Kuopas:

You can be eligible for a kuopas apartment if your stay is longer than one month and if your stay in Kuopio is associated by any ways to studies (studying or teaching)

Kuopas offers different kinds of accommodations…
• One room in a shared flat with one, two or three roommates as you prefer

• One room flats
• Or family apartments with two, three or four rooms.

… In different areas of Kuopio:
• Neulamaki
• Puijonlaakso
• Niirala
• Rauhalahti
• …

Most of the Erasmus students live either in neulamaki or puijonlaakso.

Regarding the price of the rent, it varies from the kind of accommodation you choose.
For example a single room in a shared three bedrooms apartment in neulamaki cost 300€ per month.

Useful information:

• Holding on to your apartment’s key is vital because losing them will cost you 300€ and Finland is already expensive enough
• Even though apartments are furnished you might need to buy a few things to make it livable (emergency pack that you can buy at the student unions is a good start, providing you with bed sheets, curtains and kitchen utensils)
• You must notice kuopas of your departure one month before otherwise you might have to pay an extra month
• Make sure to leave your apartment clean when you leave or you might pay some extra fee for the cleaning.

Of course using Kuopas is the easiest solution but if the locations or the apartments do not fit you, you are free to find an apartment by yourself in the city.
