• MATKUS: is a Shopping Centre where you will find many things as restaurant, health and beauty, home, culture media & technology fashion, services, department store.

How to get in there? It is really simple you have to take the bus n° 31 and it is the last stop.

• CARLSON is a large department store located next to the market place you will find the top brands of international fashion (clothing, footwear and sport clothing) and cosmetics, as well as Finnish design and quality products in various categories.

• SOKOS is a department store is located in the market square. You will find beauty products and dressing for both women and men.

• SECOND HAND SHOP Very popular among students there are several in Kuopio sells clothes, furniture, kitchenware, bicycles, ice-skates, for extremely low prices.

• PRISMA you can find everything in this grocery store (all kind of food but also equipment for bikes, clothes, shoes,etc).

• K-MARKET there are several key market downtown where you can buy mostly food.

You will also find smaller supermarkets around Kuopio as SALE (for those living in Kuopas apartments you will find it in Juontotie 3), S-MARKET or SIWA.

NB: you should “weigh” your own fruit & vegatables & then put a price label on them.

Buying alcohol:
• ALKO,

in Finland strong alcohol (wine and spirits) can be only bought in special shop ALKO. Low alcohol drinks (beers, or ciders) can be found in normal supermarkets (under 5% alcohol)
There is one Alko in the city centre in the Sokos department store, and another one in Prisma.
